Today’s Gospel Luke 6:27-38 THE DISTINCTIVE MARK OF A CHRISTIAN “To you who hear Me, I say: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.” What makes Christianity distinctively different than any other faith tradition? GRACE, the way we treat others not as they deserve, but how God calls us to, by His example, with love and mercy. Let’s help each other live out our faith by being a light in this darkness. Pray for those who hurt, abuse, malign and harm you. Saint Augustine writes brilliantly about the two wings of prayer, to give and forgive: “Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given you. These are the two wings of prayer on which it flies to God. Pardon the offender what has been committed, and give to the person in need" (Sermon 205.3). “Let us graciously and fervently perform these two types of almsgiving, that is, giving and forgiving, for we in turn pray the Lord to give us things and not to repay our evil deeds" (Sermon 206.2). Through prayer we unleash the power of love to do good in the face of evil. This is difficult, seemingly impossible when faced with senseless violence. But our Lord Jesus Christ invites us to this radical love by his example when He stretched his arms on the cross for all of humanity. We are all called to be a witness of this love which makes Christ present in the world. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Amen (Today’s daily scripture readings are providential, link in the comments.) https://youtu.be/XYoPc6_zJCU?si=LiCNtKdxqnflOHvT https://x.com/suzanahvalabogu/status/1966242084685492524
